  1. What is National Airlines doing to protect its customers with regard to access to the cockpit?
    1. National Airlines has completed its program to reinforce the cockpit doors on all aircraft, as well as to install a secondary locking mechanism on these doors. The company is also continuing to work with the FAA and aerospace companies toward additional security and safety measures aboard all aircraft.

    Baggage and Carry-on Items

  3. Can I still bring a carry-on bag?
    1. Yes. Per new FAA security regulations, customers are permitted one piece of carry-on luggage and one personal item, i.e. laptop case, purse, briefcase, backpack, etc. Please read our baggage sections in our Contract of Carriage for complete information.

  4. What carry-on items are now restricted past the security checkpoint?
    1. No knives of any size or material may pass the security checkpoint. These include, but are not limited to, pocketknives, retractable blades, box cutters, scissors, ice picks, letter openers, metal nail files etc.

  5. Do my bags need to be searched?
    1. All checked and carry-on baggage are subject to search by airline and security personnel. If searches are necessary, they will be done in your presence.

    Federal Air Marshals

  6. Does National Airlines participate in the Federal Air Marshal program?
    1. Yes. National Airlines is an active participant, and fully supports all programs designed to keep our airways safe, including the Federal Air Marshal program. Our customers’ safety is always the first priority at National Airlines.

    Ticketing and Check-in

  7. How early do I need to arrive at the airport?
    1. We recommend all customers check-in 90 minutes prior to their scheduled departure time.

      Occasionally, due to airport construction projects and heavy travel periods you may need to check-in as early as 2 hours prior to departure. You may check the suggested check-in time for your departure city here or contact National Airlines Reservations at 1-888-757-JETS.

  8. Can I check my baggage curbside?
    1. National Airlines has reinstated curbside check-in only in Las Vegas at this time. The Company is working towards making curbside check-in at New York JFK and Newark available soon. Baggage must be checked-in at the ticket counter at all other airports. Check-in at the National Flight Centers is no longer permitted. Skycap service may be available, however it is suggested to rent a luggage cart if you have several pieces of luggage.

  9. Can I go directly to the gate to check-in?
    1. If you are able to present a paper ticket or an electronic ticket receipt that shows the correct flight and date information, you may proceed directly to the gate. Customers without electronic receipts or who have made changes to their tickets must first check-in at the ticket counter.

  10. Am I able to go to the gate to meet or say goodbye to a National customer?
    1. Only customers ticketed for a National flight may pass through the security checkpoint. Customers that require special assistance may check-in at the ticket counter and be granted access to the gate.

    1. Contact the departure airport for more information on local airport security measures.

  12. How much time should I allow to pass the security checkpoint?
    1. It is suggested you go directly to the gate after check-in. Allow extra time to pass the security checkpoint; heightened security requires more time in processing customers.
